
We are pleased to announce the 2023 and 2024 edition of the Sweetpotato Scientific Paper Competition, recognizing outstanding contributions to sweetpotato research.
This annual award is made possible through a generous endowment from Dr. Jan Low, and offers a USD $500 prize to the lead author of the winning publication. The award is intended to be shared among the co-authors in recognition of collaborative scientific effort.
- Deadline for submission: August 30, 2025
- Winner announcement: November 2025
- During the International Symposium on Tropical Root and Tuber Crops (ISTRC), taking place 17–21 November in India.

- The papers must have been published in 2023 and 2024.
- Authors may include both CIP and non-CIP scientists. Researchers from other institutions conducting studies aimed at improving sweetpotato for the benefit of low- and middle-income countries are strongly encouraged to participate.
- Papers for which Dr. Jan W. Low is the lead author are ineligible; however, papers where she is a co-author may be considered.
To be considered for the award, please submit the following:
- A PDF copy of your published paper.
- A cover letter addressed to the Selection Committee, including:
- The official citation of the article.
- The full name, age, sex, job title, institution, mailing address, email address, and contact phone number of each co-author.
- If the prize is not to be divided equally, please specify in the letter the percentage allocation for each author, based on their contribution.
Important: Only papers that have been formally published in 2023 and 2024 will be considered.
