Nickel Alloy Plate
Alloy C276 Nickel Alloy Plate: Air Pollution Control
Flue gas desulfurization (FGD) uses technologies to remove sulfur dioxide from exhaust gases in coal-fired power plants. Air pollution control in power generation and industrial environments is crucial due to strict air quality control laws and regulations. High concentrates of chlorides are found in the gases that are emitted from these plants. Other grades of alloys cannot withstand these higher chloride levels. Moreover, other conditions found in FGD systems, such as high temperatures, acidity, halides other than chlorides, wet and dry conditions, mineral deposits, and dew points, contribute to corrosion of FGD materials. Nickel alloy C276 (c-276) plate and sheet materials are ideal choices for air pollution control components found in flue gas desulfurization systems such as stack liners, absorbers, ducts, dampers, and stack gas reheaters and fans. Considered the "workhorse" alloy of the FGD industry, Nickel alloy C276 (c-276) offers reliable and low-maintenance services for corrosive-resistant air pollution control components.
C276 Nickel Alloy Properties
Nickel alloy C276 (c-276) plate, pipe and sheet material has been shown to withstand higher chloride content than other alloys. C276 (c-276) nickel alloy keeps its structural integrity through the harsh and challenging operating conditions of flue gas desulfurization systems. C276 (c-276) nickel alloy's addition of tungsten makes this material especially resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion. High molybdenum and chromium content also help nickel alloy C276 (c-276) stay resistant to chloride stress corrosion cracking. It is one of the few materials that can withstand the corrosive effects of chlorine dioxide. This alloy exhibits good high-temperature strength and good oxidation resistance; it can operate in oxidizing atmospheres up to 1900°F. C276 (c-276) can be easily welded and processed utilizing standard shop fabrication processes. Additionally, C276 (c-276) plate can be hot and cold formed. It is also readily weldable by most standard processes and a post-weld heat treatment is not necessary. Alloy C276 (c-276) is machinable in the annealed condition.
